Copied from elswhere:
There's not an awful lot any of us can really do for Spider right now, and I know that many, MANY of us wish that there was.

But there is one thing we can do.

Spider and Jeanne were very financially strapped during this last part of Jeanne's life. While they had free health care due to being in Canada, that didn't cover the special foods, the special supplements, and so many of the other expenses involved with a deadly disease like cancer.

Spider is still broke. The one thing that we as a community can do is dig into our pockets and help a little. Even a dollar is good. If every person whose lives have been touched by Spider and Jeanne were to donate a buck a piece, it would lift a LOT of worry and stress from that good man's shoulders.

If you've got a buck, or five, or ten, or a hundred. If Spider's work has been beneficial to you, has made your life richer, and you have it to spare, show him by helping him now.

You can donate at the We Dream For Jeanne blog, via paypal. Or you can send a check or money order (International Money Order in Canadian dollars would be the easiest for Spider to deal with!) to:

Checks made to 'Jeanne Robinson' can be sent to

First Credit Union,
Box 190
101-475 Trunk Road,
Bowen Island, BC
V0N 1G0

The email address for Paypal donations is jeannedream@gmail.com and you can also just follow the link about halfway down the page at the We Dream For Jeanne blog: http://wedreamforjeanne.blogspot.com/ - I would recommend Paypal for donations of less than $10, because can you imagine doing a bank deposit of hundreds of one dollar checks?

Let's give a little bit back to the man, and show him our love in the most concrete way that we can right now.

Holy Carp!

To my friends, family and anyone else reading this who are veterans or are currently in the military.

Thank You.

Thank you for your service to this nation. Thank you for placing everything on the line for people you've never met and who at times hate you. Thank you for defending this nation and maintaining our freedoms. For protecting us from the horrors visited in parts of the rest of the world that many here can't even conceive of.

Know that there are people that care for you. We may not be able to help in your daily life. We may not have the wherewithal to help solve your day to day issues but we do care and fervently wish we could. We wish that you and your family could be cared for the same way the money grubbing leeches in D.C. are. We watch and vote with you in mind at all times. Know that your sacrifice and the sacrifice of those that didn't come home are remembered and very deeply appreciated.

Hmmm

I don't always agree with Mitch Albom, sports writer here in Detroit. But, I have to admit, he understands this town.

One thing I hope to see, since the new Prez seems to be tech-savvy, make the weekly address an actual vidcast. Drop some rss around that puppy and let's hit the players. I'd sign up for the feed in a heartbeat.
