Grrrr.

This is the type of thing we need as a country and as a species to focus on correcting.

To hell with Imus or the idiots in Florida deifying Jeb. That's petty crap.

Edit: To be clear, I mean helping children in need of help. Not necessarily in any country.

AMEN!

May I link to you on this? I was going to post about it, but you said it better than I could.

Sure.

That does mightily suck for John. But you know what else sucks? That there are so many kids looking for homes right here in the US.

Absolutely, and that's what I meant we need to focus on, children that need help. Not just in Russia or China or here in the US. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Being an adoptee, the subject of local adoption tends to be one of my hot buttons :)

I know quite a few couples who have had to turn to overseas adoptions because for one reason or another they didn't 'fit' what was wanted by local agencies. They would have welcomed a child from any country into their family, but because of age or job or because the agency didn't like something small and petty, they ended up in Russia, China or South America.

It's so sad, regardless of country, how many children are left to flounder in the system while couples who are more than willing, ready and able to open their hearts and homes are forced to jump hurdles that seem downright unreasonable.

Exactly.
