Last time I drove back to MI to see my mother that happened as well. Took me nearly 8 hours to cover what normally takes about 4 or 5.

I had a similar trip through Donner Pass in a blizzard during my first visit to Reno. Mine involved driving with chains, though.... surrounded by Californians.

I had a great time up until then. :) I hope gas prices stay down for a while and I can make it over more often.
