Vendor has a picture of the duly elected president, who is Republican, displayed in his market stall....
Democratic public official whines about it and has police officers request the vendor take down the picture. For what reason? "It offends Democrats?!?" Didn't know that that was a crime. Better lock my sorry ass up too. Now he's going to be enough of an ass as to waste legislator's time to try and change the laws to get the picture removed.
As my user pic says, "WTF?"
Don't bother with cutting excess spending, don't bother with trying to lower crime rates, don't bother with trying to do your jobs, just waste your fucking time because I'm offended because my party lost the fucking election.
Oh, good GRIEF. I can understand being pissed that you lost (Hey, I lost too, my candidate isn't president either)... but that's not just pissed you lost, that's been a poor sport. That's gradeschool behavior... "You can't put her school picture up in your locker 'cause I don't like her! I don't care that she's your sister!"
So people aren't allowed to display pictures of the President now?
I hope the people pushing for a removal of all political items from public places also includes the following: -Any cars with political bumper stickers -Flags
I can't believe the immaturity I've seen from some Democrats after this election (we'll wait till the demos win one to see if some repubs are any better). Some people just aren't going to be happy until we graywash everything (whitewash being to offensive and not PC enough for them).
there was a teacher - just before the election - who was fired because she had a display in her classroom that included a picture of George Washington (the 1st president) and George W (the current president) about government. A parent complained that there was no picture of Kerry and when the teacher refused to include one, she was shown out of the building and asked for her keys. I dont know what the ultimate outcome was but it made NBC's Today show. I'll try to find the link.
this has the statement from the school http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1234815/posts (cut & Paste - i dont have my html cheat sheets in the office) btw - this is the middle school that i would have attended if my family hadn't moved a year before i came of age.
fer fuck's sake, since when is it *political* to have a picture of the regional governmental leader posted anywhere?
Keerist. POlitical is doing it just to suck up, or posting a picture of an office candidate. Political is having Shrubya's goofy-looking mug printed on your toilet paper so you can make him kiss your ass in effigy.
I know the country's going to hell in a handbasket. I just wish a larger majority agreed on how to slove the problem.
huh??

Date: 2004-12-08 09:41 pm (UTC)Time to make Sardi's take down all their pictures of stars and politicians, I guess.
Hmm, Mother Teresa? Nope religion.
Ghandi? Nope, political.
Jesus? Mohammed? Bhudda? Hmmm, guess all pictures of people are outlawed from here on out, eh?
Hmmm, pictures of dogs & cats? Nope, PETA says it's exploitative.
Fruit? Nope, insulting to meat eaters...
Where does it end?

Date: 2004-12-08 09:44 pm (UTC)While I wouldn't want GW staring up my ass, you go right ahead. Whatever gets you off.
I won't mis-appropriate on duty police to tell you to not do so, nor will I waste city council's time to make it illegal for you to do it.
Want some bran?
